…Call on Southeast Governors to invest in Agriculture
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC) has said that with the crash on price of oil, there may be recession and poverty hitting the country soon.
OYC, in a statement signed by its President General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, called on the Southeast Governors to invest in Agriculture as a way to create job employment and get away from the impending hardship fall of oil price may allegedly cause.
The full statement reads below…
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide studied diligently the rethorics of the Group Managing Director Of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC),Mele Kyari on the recent crashed of crude Oil prices to less than 30 dollars per barrel and warning Nigerians to prepare for tough times Ahead.
“OYC agreed with Kyari and insists that Nigerians will experience hunger and hardship in the face of obvious collapse of the economy depending solely on Crude Oil in the nearby future.
“OYC seek for the engagement of Competent hands to help President Muhammadu Buhari to manage the Economy, those in the economic team of Mr President had run short of ideas and will ground the economy, the appointment of Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala by South African Government,President of South Africa had demonstrated courage and determination to succeed in the face of economic adversity by hiring a Foreign Adviser (Okonjo iweala)
We call for total overhaul of the entire Economic team of Mr President, this is a wakeup call to Bring in a Good Economic Team to develop non oil sectors and ensure that we avoid going back to recession.
“South East Governors should prepare to channel their resources to support youths to engage in agriculture to prepare for the tough times Ahead, there’s only one route of escape from being cut up with the prediction of Recession and Hardship,as farming season begins April 2020, Igbos should embrace agriculture as survival strategies.
