An investigative panel inquiry set up by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide over the killings of the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Sunday 23rd, August 2020 in Emene, Enugu State has said to have uncovered shocking facts.
This is following an attack by the security agents on the members of the IPOB who were said to have gathered in Emene for their meeting and was dispersed with live bullets which allegedly killed 21 people and many sustained injuries.
The act which has been condemned by different Igbo groups both home and diaspora, has led the Ohanaeze Youths Council to set up a panel of inquiry On Monday 24th August 2020.
OYC said, the Igbo Panel of Inquiry on the Enugu Killings is to ascertain independently the circumstances surrounding the death of 21 Igbo Youths on the both sides of ipob and Dss at Emene, Enugu on Sunday 23th August 2023.
Part of the statement signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide and Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, Secretary General, said the Panel of Inquiry led Mazi Okwu Nnabuike had successfully interviewed independent eye witnesses around the scene of the Emene killings, And We have “Uncovered shocking facts regarding to what happened and are still Making Progress and will Conclude Sooner than later”.
“We Commended those who took the responsibility to be part of these investigations with utmost respect for those killed and to avert Possible Reprisals and Curtail the Spread of violence in the Southeast but definitely Nigerians will surely have Unbiased answers to the tragic death of Igbo Youths that met their Untimely ordeal on 23rd August 2020.when the Full details of what happened comes out possibly any Moment before 30th August 2020.
