Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC) has offered to relocate the Igbo people living in China to neighbouring Asian country over the deadly outbreak of Coronavirus.
This is even as the group urges President Muhammadu Buhari to help evacuate stranded Nigerian nationals in China over the virus which has killed hundreds since its outbreak in Wuhan city of China.
OYC in statement signed by its President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, also urged other Nigerian philanthropists to emulate the AirPeace, Allen Onyema who evacuated Nigerians from South Africa during xenophobic attacks.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide observed that the recent yearnings of Nigerians especially Students and Youths, trapped in China had not responded to by the Federal Government.
“We Appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to send aircrafts to evacuate Stranded Nigerians trapped in China, and should not allowed to die, irrespective that Health precautions should be applied towards ensuring halting timely the spread of Coronavirus into the Country.
“OYC call on the Private Sector and Philanthropists to emulate Airpeace Allen Onyema to rescue Students and Youths trapped in China over the Coronavirus outbreak, we also appeal to Nigeria Governors Forum to jointly come to the aid of these stranded Nigerians.
“OYC through the Diaspora Co ordinator will provide little assistance towards relocating mostly Igbos to neighbouring Asian Countries sharing borders with China,” the statement reads.
