A former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has condemned the arrest of publisher of Sahara Reporters/presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the February 2019 general election, Omoyele Sowore.
Sowore, before his arrest was convening a nationwide protest, tagged #RevolutionNow – which is aimed at locking down the entire country and demand for a good governance from the leaders.
Responding to the movement, the men of the DSS invaded his home 1:25 am when he posted a tweet via his official twitter handle; “DSS invades Sowore’s”.
Reacting to Sowore’s arrest, Nigerians has flooded the twitter including Nigeria’s former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, demanding for the release of Mr. Sowore.
She wrote; “Hmmmm. @AsoRock ought to know that they cannot sustain this unconstitutional habit of repression against #CitizensRights. All these persistent acts of @NGRPresident to shrink the Public Space with rabid level of intolerance for dissension will surely fail. #FreeSoworeNow!
“If our @NGRPresident @MBuhari & FG @AsoRock are not completely out of touch with the reality of distress of majority of Citizens of this country, they would handle @YeleSowore ‘s right to convene #RevolutionNow wisely. Many of us his fellow #OfficeOfTheCitizen stand with him.
“All well-meaning Nigerians should stand with @YeleSowore and defend his constitutional right and freedom to protest any matter of Governance that worries him. Mr Sowore’s convening of Citizens to protest Poor Governance – via #RevolutionNow- is Constitutionally guaranteed.
Another twitter who shared President Buhari’s picture during a protest in 2013, wrote; “Mr president do you still remember this protest pictures, who and who dey front of this picture, Mr buhari is you and you and you and you, but today you are sending DSS to arrest someone that is doing sametin that you did some years ago.
