Nigerian professional Football League match day 20 was brought to an abrupt end as misunderstanding amongst fans interrupted the game at the 20th minute of the first half at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
Newsstarlet reported that Crisis started when a popular stand known as York saw stones rolling at the stand and people started running for safety while some injured.
Police tried to calm the situation but the drama continued with the invasion of fans in the field.
The Referee quickly called for the game to stop when some of the Enyimba fans invaded the football pitch and started destroying equipment in the stadium,which includes chairs and the reserve seats.
Every attempt to stop them failed into deef ears as both Chairman of the 2 Clubs ,Abia Warriors and Enyimba,Pastor Emeka Inyama and Felix Anyansiagwu struggled to douse the tension.
The game is the reverse fixture of the oriental derby between Abia Warriors who lost 2-1 in Aba last Sunday Against Enyimba International of Aba.
FELIX ANYANSIAGWU HOSPITALIZED
The Chairman of Enyimba International of Aba,Chief Felix Anyansiagwu has been hospitalized at the Federal Medical Center,Umuahia.
Newsstarlet gathered that the Enyimba Chairman was said to have intervened when the Enyimba of Aba fans and Abia Warriors supporters(the Columbia stand)were having clashes.
He quickly came to calm the situation in the scene of the crises,but was pelted with stones which gave him serious injuries at the head and other parts of his body.
He was rushed immediately to the hospital,Federal Medical Center,Umuahia soon as security men spotted him bleeding profusely.
It gathered that he was admitted and for further treatment.
