Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said he will not contest or support any politician in Nigeria as long as the political system remained the same.
Kanu, who feared that what happened to the late Biafran warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu might also happen to him.
ABACITYBLOG recalled that Ojukwu failed while contesting for Presidential position in Nigeria in 2003 under the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA. This, according to Kanu, was a planned trick to ruin the struggle for Biafra restoration.
Speaking recently in an exclusive interview with BBC Igbo, Kanu said, people have accosted him several times to contest for a political post in Nigeria, with the facts that he controls millions of followers in the Old Eastern region of Nigeria.
But Kanu said he turned them down because it’s a bait, “they are only trying to ridicule me just as they did to Ojukwu”.
“Ojukwu failed in Anambra, Kanu told BBC., “If Ojukwu could fail in Anambra, who are mine to be compared to Ojukwu. If he (Biafra warlord) could fail in an election, how sure are you that I would even win an election in Nigeria.
“I looked deep into what they did then and I said no! The way they did it then, cannot be the same way it will be done now.
“All they want to do is to make jest of our struggle. I’m a learned man and I know all their tricks. All I’m asking for, is for them to do the right thing.
“Even If I want to support any election in Nigeria, I can’t come out in public and tell people who they would vote for, I will only tell them to vote for the right candidate who have the people in mind and who will be ready to work for the people.
“I don’t want to be seen an Ahmed Bola Tinubu of Igboland”, Kanu concluded.
