In a bold and unwavering move, Ohanaeze Ndigbo addresses the reprehensible actions of certain Southeast Governors and politicians who seek to derail the potential release of Nnamdi Kanu through out-of-court settlements.
The recent directives from the Federal High Court in Abuja for both parties to engage in negotiations under section 17 of the High Court Act have opened a path towards justice for Nnamdi Kanu.
“However, these advances have sparked resistance and unrest among some Southeast Governors, political elites, and misguided individuals who have been shamelessly profiting from Nnamdi Kanu’s unjust incarceration.” Ohanaeze said in a statement signed by the Secretary General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.
According to the group, “This exploitation of the tragic situation for personal gain is a despicable betrayal of the trust placed in these individuals by the people they are meant to serve. By looting state coffers under the guise of combating insecurity challenges in the Southeast, these individuals have revealed their true motives – selfishness and greed.”
Ohanaeze, further noted that, “a second group of opportunistic political elites from the National Assembly masquerades as patriots but seeks to manipulate the situation to their advantage for political popularity and the 2027 elections, disregarding the core principles of justice and the well-being of the people. Their actions are nothing short of treachery and must be met with the utmost condemnation.”
Ohanaeze added that, “criminal elements posing as Biafra agitators, led by individuals such as Simon Ekpa, have spread violence and chaos in the Southeast with their heinous crimes against security agents, kidnapping syndicates, and acts of robbery. These actions are an affront to society and must be met with swift and decisive action.”
Ohanaeze Ndigbo issues a stern warning to all those who seek to stand in the way of justice for Nnamdi Kanu.
“We will not hesitate to impose sanctions on the Southeast Governors and politicians involved in this malevolent scheme. The peace and prosperity of the Southeast region are too valuable to be sacrificed for personal gain.” Ohanaeze said.
Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, reaffirms that punitive measures and disciplinary actions will be taken against any individual or group that impedes the restoration of peace and progress in the region.
“We hold these Southeast Governors accountable for any disruptions caused by their self-serving actions.
“we call upon Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team to remain vigilant and resolute in their pursuit of justice, free from political interference. The Federal Government’s deal must proceed unencumbered, and any attempts to thwart this process will not be tolerated.
“We urge eminent Igbo leaders like Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Chief Ebitu Ukiwe, and Senator Ike Nwachukwu to provide assurances to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding Nnamdi Kanu’s post-release actions and activities, bridging the gap necessary for Nnamdi Kanu’s freedom. Ohanaeze Ndigbo remains steadfast in our commitment to justice, peace, and the prosperity of our people.
