Mazi Nnamdi Kanu – the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has lambasted Leicester City players, Iheanacho and Ndidi for displaying the Nigerian flag.
The duo had displayed Nigerian flag after their club victory yesterday while jubilating on winning the FA Cup finals against Chelsea Football Club.
Calling out Iheanacho and Ndidi, who happened to hail from the Southeast, a region agitating for a break away from Nigeria, Kanu said what the duo did was a total shame by displaying the Nigerian flag.
Kanu likened Iheanacho and Ndidi to Gerard Pique, a Spanish player who, despite all his winnings have not relented in publicly supporting Catalonia, a region agitating for a break away from Spain.
The IPOB leader’s logic was Iheanacho and Ndidi would have displayed the Biafran flag to show their support for the struggle, instead of the Nigerian flag. According to him, their action showed the difference between the White man and his Black counterparts.
