The Abia State Chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, has declared indefinite strike in Abia State Polytechnic, Aba.
The strike according to the Abia NLC chairman is following the sack of 258 staff, who was sacked a few weeks ago.
ABACITYBLOG reported that the institution management, had stated that the sack is followed by the implementation of the review report on verification of staff and their certificates, as approved by the state executive council in April 2019.
The institution further noted that the strike was poised to reposition Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, for greater operational efficiency.
Reacting over the strike and none payment of the affected workers, the NLC chair had last week declared that from Monday, 30th September, 2019, there will be an indefinite strike in Abia Poly.
Addressing the newsmen, the NLC chairman, decried the sack of the 258 workers who according to him did not have any query in their Curriculum Vitae (CV) and whose their records are clean.
He however, said until the management pay off the affected workers their salaries and gratuities, the institution will be on strike.
