As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has conducted a Vocational Skills Training and presentation of empowerment tools with inscription and logo for women and youth in Makarfi Local Government’ Area of Kaduna State
The event held on Sunday December 6, 2020 at Shehu Idris School of Health Sciences, Makarfi, saw over 130 beneficiaries from Ungwan Kofar Kudu, Makarfi Ward empowered.
The empowerment was done in conjunction with Unique Executive Services Limited.
The beneficiaries were presented with start up kits which included sewing machines, water pumping machines, grinding machines.
His Highness, Sarkin Makarfi, Alhaji Kabiru Abdullahi Sada in his brief remarks, said that he was elated by the empowerment programme.
He said that Almighty Allah should bless the facilitator and the providers for the empowerment programme.
In his remarks, Chairman of the occasion, Dean Post Graduate School, Kaduna State University (KASU), Professor Yusha’u Ibrahim Ango said that the items for the empowerment were brought down to Makarfi all the way from Lagos.
He advised beneficiaries to put to judicious use the items presented to them.
“Do not be tempted to sell off the items given to you at give away prices, but use it to earn a living that would be beneficial to your families and the larger society,” he charged.
For the farmers, use the items given to you, where you are getting 10 bags of harvests, you should be able to double it to 20 bags,” he added.
In his message, the facilitator of the empowerment programme, Honourable Samaila Aliyu expressed appreciation to the MD NPA, Dr. Hadiza Bala Usman, praying for God’s guidance and protection upon her.
As part of its contribution, Aslad group donated N10,000 to each of the beneficiaries.
Making the donation, Chairman of Aslad group, Alhaji Atiku Ruwandoruwa said that it was their modest contribution in ensuring smooth start of the beneficiaries.
Notable dignitaries at the event included, Governor Nasir el-Rufai represented by Alhaji Shehu Mohammed, Special Assistant Politics, Managing Director NPA, Dr. Hadiza Bala Usman, represented by Alhaji Aliyu Garba and Chairman Makarfi LGA, Engineer Kabiru Mu’azu Mayare.
Nigerian Ports Authority MD Warns 134 Beneficiaries Of Training Empowerment Against Selling Start Up Kits
Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Hadiza Bala Usman has charged the 134 beneficiaries of the Vocational Skills Training and empowerment programme in Makarfi Local Government’Area not to sell the items presented to them as start up kits.
She gave the charge in Makarfi on Sunday, at presentation of empowerment tools with inscription and logo for women and youth int December 6, 2020 at the Shehu Idris School of Health Sciences, Makarfi.
Represented by Alhaji Aliyu Garba who led the NPA team, she expressed this in an interview with newsmen.
She stressed. that the importance of CSR cannot be overemphasized, which informed the Intervention.
“We the NPA team are here to witness the distribution of the items.
“The NPA team always tells beneficiaries not to sell.the items,” she emphasized.
On the conduct of the presentation of the items, she said that it was highly commendable.
“We are impressed by the way the Makarfi people received us and are happy with the way the coordinators organised it,” she added.
Also in an interview, Honourable Samaila Aliyu the facilitator of the NPA empowerment programme, described the gesture as noble.
“The training and empowerment is a laudable initiative from the NPA, who is efforts of government.
“In these difficult times, the empowerment will help in alleviating poverty from the beneficiaries and their families.
“I advise them to use the empowerment judiciously and not to sell it,” he stressed..
Also speaking in a separate interview, the MD of Unique Executive Services Limited, Honourable Musa Mubama described the programme as a life saver.
He commended the NPA for the gesture.
Mubama said that there will be multiplying effect of the empowerment because beneficiaries have dependants that will also benefit.
He tasked them to have fear of God and use the items given to them judiciously.
