Nigeria Center for Disease Control gives update on Enugu suspected Coronavirus patient

The result of the suspected COVID-19 carrier in the coal city state of Enugu conducted by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC is out and the patient has been marked safe from the dreaded virus.

This stems the panic and fear the speculation has thrown on not just people living in Enugu city but the entire South East geopolitical zone of the country.

The results of the test conducted on the patient in Enugu, was being expected on Monday but the results came out earlier, Sunday evening thus giving residents of the city a need for a sigh of relief.

According to Rhythm 93.7 monitored in Enugu the result of the Coronavirus test in Enugu showed negative even as it urged people in Enugu to go about their businesses without fear or panic of any sort as they are marked safe.

Recall that Health officials in Enugu, South East Nigeria were said to have confirmed a suspected case of COVID-19 in the coal city even as the Enugu State government in a short statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Ifeanyi Agujiobi noted that the Nigerian Center for Disease Control, NCDC had been informed of the case and relevant samples from the patient collected and sent for investigations.

The government statement further disclosed that the patient has been isolated in its facility and is being monitored even as reliable sources at Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Parklane Enugu where the suspected COVID-19 patient was first presented that the 70-year old grand mother had recently returned from United Kingdom.

The patient whose identity was not disclosed was said to have symptoms of cold, cough and respiratory disorder when she was brought to the hospital but medical experts and NCDC officials were on hand to move her to the isolation facilities.

While urging the public to always wait for the result from NCDC, the agency noted that the patient’s Coronavirus result came out negative.
