The member representing Ukwa East and Ukwa West Federal Constituency, Hon. Uzoma Abonta, has come under serious attack from some of his constituents, who have accused him of poor performance.
The attack was heightened following an alleged refusal of the third time member of the House of Representatives to convene a town hall meeting as requested by his kinsmen, under the aegis of the Ndoki Union, Newsportal reports.
In a statement signed by Dr. Cyril Babanta and Dr. Idah Felix Waboso, the Coalition for Ukwa Leadership Accountability, COFULA, said the body was aasidously to make sure Abonta accounts for his 15 years stewardship.
According to the body, “Cofula is strongly committed to probity, accountability and good leadership in Ndoki and for Ndokis.
“Cofula will continue to insist that dividends of democracy must be delivered to her land and by her Representative.
“Cofula at present is working assiduously to make sure hon Abonta account for his 15 years stewardship. We shall take every available constitutional and legal ways to achieve this.”
Another constituent, who is also the Convener, Ndoki Movement For Accountability, NMA, and Co-Convener, COFULA, Kingsley Nna Okadigbo, said it was the resolution of the bodies to convene a town hall meeting and World Press Conference to pass a vote of no confidence on the Member House Representatives for Ukwa Federal Constituency and subsequently commence the Constitutional process for his recall.
He said, “The Coalition For Ukwa Leadership Accountability (COFULA) in collaboration with the Ndoki Movement For Accountability (NMA) remain resolute, resilient and committed to this project and shall not relent until UHURU is achieved.
“We call on the Patriots to remain steadfast and hopeful as we are all poised to do a NEW thing and change the narrative in our collective best interests”.
For Dr. Stanford Ubani, he said, “I have not sited any human capital development that has lifted any Ukwa man or woman out of poverty courtesy of Rt.Hon.Barr.Uzoma Abonta.
“I now know that the driving force behind Rt.Hon.Barr.Nkem Abonta’s incursion into Ukwa Politics, is not for public good but to massage his unquenching appetite for crude accumulation, hence sixteen years down the line, Rt.Hon.Barr.Uzoma Nkem Abonta, has nothing to beat his heart and say ,this is what Ukwa people can point at as my legacy”
He said Ukwa land has been ruined beyond redemption by the honourable member.
“There is no functional health facility anywhere in Ukwa land, no road in Ukwa land.I have not heard or seen an Ukwa young man or woman in the NDA, Police Academy, Air Force, Navy etc courtesy of Rt.Hon.Barr.Nkem Uzoma Abonta.
Reacting to the barrage of attacks on Abonta, his media aide, Engr. O. P. Ifeanyichukwu said his boss was not an obstinate person, and was open to constructive criticism, adding that he was willing to make adjustments.
He said, “No man is an island, and Hon. Uzoma Nkem Abonta I know is not an obstinate fellow, has not played the role of “Mr Know All” and cannot also desire to trade or toll (sic) on such part, he is open to reproof and constructive criticism, and is also willing to adjust at any moment.”
