A Nigerian man, Shuaib, presumably from the Northern part of the country has narrated how he became an commercial Bike Rider (Okada Man) after selling everything off to pay for the release of his family from their abductors.
Shuaib, who took to his twitter page (@Ahmadu_1) to share the story said after paying an undisclosed amount as ransom to the kidnappers, they are yet to release his wife.
“…till Today, my wife is not yet back after paying the Ransom”, Shuaib said in a tweet. He, however, said he is very hopeful that his wife will be back safely. “I am still hopeful she will return”.

Shuaib said selling off everything (properties) to raise money for the freedom of his family has turned him into a commercial bike rider, according to him, he had to work 17 hours (8:AM – 1:AM) everyday to see if he can bounce back, while calling on people to patronize him.
“I work from 8am to 1am, to can patronize me if you stay along Barnawa, Sabo, Narayi, Karji, Stadium. I am sure and reliable. Help patronize so I could get my life back please guys. Also help pray for my beautiful wife to return safely please”.
Speaking further, the distressed man said he is not ashamed of his job, adding that he find dignity in what life has turned him into. “I am not ashamed of doing this, I will do it again and again with Dignity. I am a proud Okada rider kindly patronize me”, he tweeted.
“You can literally support me with anything you wish yo can help me with, I sold everything we had, starting afresh please pray for me.”
Like Shuaib, many Northers are facing the reality of kidnappings and ransom payment.
In January, 2022, Saidu Faskari, a 65-year old Nigerian man, from Katsina State – sold his roof sheets in bid to raise money for the release of his abducted son.
According to reports, Saidu’s 17-year old son was kidnapped December 2021, in the northwest region of Katsina state, and they demanded a ransom of N100,000 naira, hence he decided to sell of his roofing sheets.
However, Nigerians came to his rescue and raised funds for the release of his son from kidnapper’s den.
