Bayo Onanuga, the spokesman for Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign, a Yoruba decent has warned Igbo people living in Lagos to stop interfering in Lagos politics henceforth.
Onanuga in a controversial twitter post warned the Igbo people of South-East extraction to desist from anything that concerned politics in Lagos, citing it’s Yoruba affairs and they should mind their business.
Using the image of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi in the tweet, the Newspaper Chief Executive while making comments, said let 2023 be the last time Igbo interfere in Lagos politics, stressing that Lagos, like any other States in Nigeria is no man’s land.
“Let 2023 be the last time of Igbo interference in Lagos politics. Let there be no repeat in 2027. Lagos is like Anambra, Imo, any Nigerian state. It is not No Man’s Land, not Federal Capital Territory. It is Yoruba land. Mind your business,” Onanuga tweeted following the outcome of the just concluded gubernatorial election in the State.
The controversial tweet has generated lots of mixed reaction online as people have called it a genocidal tweet, while some Yoruba decent threw their back on it.
A social media activist, @firstladyship have likened Onanuga’s tweet as how the Rwanda genocide started. She called out the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, for trying to set the country ablaze with their kind of politics.
“This was precisely how the Rwandan Genocide started. In just 100 days, over 800K Rwandans were butchered in the most chaotic & brutal insane manner. There’ll be no Hutu & Tutsi Genocide in Nigeria. The APC will not burn Nigeria to the ground.” – she tweeted.

Also reacting to Onanuga’s tweet, Mr. Abdul Mahmud, a lawyer described the APC campaign spokesman as “inhumane”, he said Onanuga’s tweet is contrary to what he experienced when he was residing in Ijebu Ode, for 5 years in the 1990s.
Mr. Mahmud said he was treated well by Ijebu people where Onanuga hails from contrary with the tweet he put out against Igbos in Lagos.
“Bayo, I lived and ran one of most successful legal assistance schemes in the Southwest from your natal place, Ijebu Ode, for 5 years in the 1990s. No Ijebu displayed the inhumanity you’ve evinced with this tweet
“In fact, from Ago-Iwoye to Ogun waterside, Erunwon, Igbeba, Oke-Owa and Illese in-between, the Ijebus showed love to non-indigenes who lived among them. I was even gifted a parcel of land in Oke-Owa on account of the pro bono legal services I rendered to Oke-Owa vigilantes
“You’ve kids who’ll one day live outside the place and country of their birth. Pray they don’t become victims of the inhumanity you evince.
