There was a mild drama in the premises of the Abia state election petition tribunal sitting in Umuahia on Monday Following the failure of self acclaimed PDP agent in ward 003 Ututu in Arochukwu, Okoro Kalu to verify the authenticity of the result he said emanated from the unit.
ABNTV reports, that the agent who also appeared as one of the witnesses to the petitioner, former senator representing Abia North Senatorial district, Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa during cross examination by counsel to the defendant, K.C Nwofur SAN, could not repeat the signature which appeared in the original document in the custody of the tribunal.
His signature in the result sheet which he claimed is the original document was said to have been totally different from what he signed in the open court.
The exhibit was subsequently marked REJECTED by the tribunal since it was not signed by INEC officer and the agents of other political parties who took part in the election.
Observations were raised by counsels for the respondents on the grounds that the tribunal has earlier ordered that documents to be used as exhibit should be made available during pretrial and that the documents sought to be tendered was not signed by the author.
Similarly, both the 2nd and 3rd witnesses during cross examination by the counsel to the respondent and INEC were said to have fumbled as to the authenticity of the polling units results they claimed was given to them as polling agents.
Counsel to INEC, A.C Okoroafor esq accused the witnesses of forging the said results with the purpose of coming to deceive the court.
While the petitioners was lead by M.I Onyeka Esq, the APC legal team was led by Obianwu SAN.
