The suspended EFCC chairman Ibrahim Magu has written the Inspector General of Police through his lawyer, thereby seeking for bail.
His request for bail was sent through a letter on his behalf by one of his lawyers, Oluwatosin Ojaomo, to the police chief on Friday, July 10.
Magu has been detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) since Monday, July 6 when he first appeared before the presidential panel probing him for the allegations of misconduct leveled against him by the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
He has been in detention since Monday night, answering questions on embezzled recovered loot and selling of seized assets to associates.
Meanwhile, the agency’s Director of Operations, Mohammed Umar, will take charge and oversee the activities of the Commission pending the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
