A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC and the House of representative candidate of the party in the 2019 national assembly election, in Imo state, Hon Blyden Amajirionwu has assured Imolites that the Internally generated revenue (IGR) of the state shall be sustained and possibly improved on.
The Ngor Okpala born politician and assets management consultant made the disclosure recently in Owerri while fielding questions from newsmen. According to him, the monthly IGR as claimed by the previous administration was raised from N250 million to N1 Billion naira within a period of six months adding that such can only be achieved by a cerebral revenue consultant in compliance with the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy.
Amajirionwu who is a major player in the revenue sector and has helped other neighbouring states within the southeast region to boost their revenue status disclosed that Imo state require a competent hand to manage her revenue sector and such person must be one who have knowledge of the revenue channels in the state.
Also he disclosed that the newly launched Social Benefit Number otherwise known as ” IMSSBN” which was meant to electronically capture fiscal responsibility amongst her citizens shall be reviewed by the new administration while considering if the primary objectives of the policy is achievable, he said.
Amajirionwu maintained that in order to proffer lasting solution to revenue leakages, the state’s revenue board and the 27 LGAs must come together and resolve to have a central collection and as well adopt a sharing formula. If these arrangements are put together, there shall not be no revenue conflicts or leakages of any sort.
Also he said Gov Hope Uzodinma’s administration will alleviate the sufferings of Imolites while describing Uzodinma as who understands the plight of his people, a major stakeholder in the state’s political system over two decades.
