Abia State Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has promised to bring desirable change to Abia South Senatorial zone through lawmaking.
The governor who has been elected unopposed as the PDP Abia South Senatorial candidate for the 2023 general elections in the State with a total of 198 votes, made the statement after his victory at the Primaries.
AbaCityBlog reported that during the primary election held at the Enyimba International Stadium, the PDP Returning Officer for the conduct of the primary election and former PDP State Chairman, Chief Ndidi Okereke disclosed that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu was the sole aspirant for the position. He congratulated the Governor on his emergence as well as thanked the delegates for conducting themselves peacefully during the exercise.
According to him, out of a total number of 198 accredited delegates for the election, the same 198 cast their votes cast for Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.
Addressing the press after the exercise, the winner of the Abia South PDP Senatorial election and the State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu assured that the fortunes of Abia South people would change for the better. He said he would ensure that the interest of the people of Abia South would be protected, including that of the women and the youths.
Governor Ikpeazu, who dedicated his victory to all statutory delegates who were excluded from participating in the exercise including himself because of constitutional issues urged them to take it in good faith, saying that, he knew that they would have equally voted for him had they participated.
He promise that he would serve the people with diligence and contribute greatly to the development of Nigeria through lawmaking.
Meanwhile, the primary election was observed by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies had National delegates and the elected Adhoc delegates in Abia South Senatorial District including Aba North, Aba South, Obingwa, Ukwa East, Ukwa West and Ugwunagbo Local Government Areas participating, while stakeholders, including the former Deputy Governor, Chief Acho Nwakanma, member representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency, Chief Chimaobi Ebisike and many PDP faithful witnessed it.
