- …Speaks on why he stopped work on Osisioma flyover
- …Installation of Automated shoemaking machine
The Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has said work will soon commence on major roads in Aba, the commercial city of Abia State, as part of his promise to the residents of such areas.
The roads mentioned by the governor are Port Harcourt road, Ngwa road, Obohia, others., Which some of them has been tagged as “abandoned projects”.
Ikpeazu who stated this on Thursday night, in Aba based radio station, Magic FM Aba, said the road projects will be funded by African Development Bank, (AfDB).
“I can assure you that within 4 months time, Port Harcourt road, Obohia and Ngwa road will see a change. AfDB, are on ground, they will soon commence work on those roads.
“Port Harcourt road will be first. Even the money I used for the starting will be refunded to me, remember it’s a federal road project and I used state money to start it to the level where it’s today, our agreement is they will refund me,” Ikpeazu said.
Speaking further on infrastructure deficit, Gov Ikpeazu revealed the reason he asked contractors handling Osisioma flyover to stop work.
“If somebody is bothered about Osisioma bridge, that person should be aware of my records, I have done more roads in Aba comparing to the past administrations. Osisioma flyover is not a priority, hence will pause the project.
“Faulks road is a greater priority than the bridge, that’s why I focused on Faulks road because the road leads to Ariaria which is one of the economic engine room of Abia State.
“I rebuilt Faulks road because a lot people, especially, from Akwa Ibom uses the road while coming to Ariaria market, which increases the economy of Abia, had it been I didn’t do the road (Faulks) our economy would have collapsed by now.
Speaking about automated shoemaking machine which arrived Aba few months ago, Ikpeazu assured that it will start production soon.
“The shoe making machines will soon be installed. we’re building the factory and very soon, after the election, Chinese engineers will come and install the machines and teach our people how to operate it.
The governor used the medium to campaign for his party, the PDP and her candidates in Abia, including the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Peter Obi.
He called on Abians, Ndigbo to vote for all PDP candidates in the state and federal levels.
