The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has charged the recently appointed Transition Chairmen and Deputies to live up to their responsibilities of ensuring peace and security in their Local Government Areas.
The Transition Committee Chairmen include: Isiala Ngwa South, Chief Iyke Anyatonwu; Umuahia South, Mr. Kelechi Aguiyi; Ohafia, Comrade O’Brien Iroh and Chief Daniel Orjinta of Ikwuano LGAs.
The Deputy Chairmen include: Osisioma LGA, Chief Chigaemezu Ejiekpe; Mr Chukwudi Ahuama of Ugwunagbo and Mr Enyinnah Chiedoezie of Ikwuano LGA.
Speaking while swearing them in, Governor Ikpeazu who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu also tasked them to ensure that grassroot governance is enshrined at their various Local Government Areas.
He further reminded the newly sworn in TC Chairmen and Deputies to live up to their responsibilities of ensuring peace and security in their local Government Areas.
Dr. Ikpeazu congratulated them on their appointments and urged them to take cognizance of their being appointed at a very critical and auspicious time that their people are expected to get the best from them in their capacity as the third tier of government especially this electioneering period.
The Governor expressed optimism that with their pedigree and capacities, they will deliver on their mandate and wished them all the best as they strive to make life more meaningful for their people.
Responding on behalf of his Colleagues, the TC Chairman of Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Chief Iyke Anyatonwu thanked the Governor for finding them fit for the job and assured that they will work assiduously to meet up with the high expectations expected of them.
Also speaking, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ohafia LGA, Comrade O’Brien Iroh appreciated the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for finding him worthy for this assignment and assured that he will not betray the confidence reposed in him.
The oath of allegiance was earlier bestowed on the new four TC Chairmen and three Deputy Chairmen by a representative of the State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Justice, Barr. Chibuzor Ehiemere while top government officials and aides of the Deputy Governor were present during the swearing in ceremony.
