Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has applauded Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe for asking President Muhammadu Buhari to resign over rising Insecurities in the country.
The senator representing Abia South had asked President Buhari to resign for what he described as a failure to address the insecurities in Nigeria. Although, the statement has been applauded and condemned by Nigerians in different quarters.
Also, lambasting Senator Abaribe, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC) described him as a failed lawmaker.
“it’s on record that the Senator only empowered his Constituency in 2015 with Few Free Ambulance Vehicles for those that died out of hunger and frustration and Lotto Bet for the Youths,” OYC said.
However, COSEYL, in a statement signed by its President General, Chief Goodluck Ibem, commended Senator Abaribe and attacked the Ohanaeze youths.
The group said… “South East zone condemns in strong terms the attack on the revered senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe by some misguided persons and individuals that Abaribe has not performed in his constituency and for that, lacks the right to speak the truth about the security situation in the country that has claimed so many lives and properties.
“Abaribe is the minority leader of the Senate and he plainly told the President about the true position of security in the country. A situation where people are killed at random and the perpetrators of such dastardly act are not apprehended lives much to be desired.
“Abaribe has nothing personal against President Buhari but he just reminded him of his electoral promise to the electorate that made them vote him into power. That is what the opposition is meant to do. Abaribe’s primary duty in the Senate is to say the truth on matters concerning the country.
“Pastor Enoch Adeboye , the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God since we know him has never protested on the streets against any government or happenings in the country. But this time he came out by himself to protest against insecurity and wanton killing of Christians in the country.
“These singular act by Adeboye simply tells you that ‘what entered has the cricket hole is bigger than the cricket’ . Any well meaning Nigerians will not play the ostrich in a very serious matter like this.
“Security of lives and property is the first and foremost responsibility of any government to his citizens. When the government has failed on that primary duty, it means the hope and believe of the citizens on their government is finished.
“For anyone to attack Senator Abaribe for telling Mr President to buckle up on security is not sincere to himself and he hates the security of life in the country. Only a murderer will see or support the killing of innocent people in the country and he will not voice out against it.
“With the free visa policy in place, more hoodlums, murderers ,Killers, ISWAP, bandits will enter the country to commit more havoc unless the Federal government stops the policy because it is doing us more harm than good.
“Abaribe has attracted dividends of democracy to his senatorial zone Abia south, South East and Nigeria in general. He is one of the finesse Senator in the South East zone . It is because of his performance that made his constituency to always vote him during every elections.
“This is the fourth tenure of Abaribe in the Senate and only a performer can achieve such feat. The electorates reciprocate performance by voting their representative back to office. Senator Abaribe has been a great representative of his senatorial zone.
“We urge ‘ Nma Agha Ndigbo’ not to be distracted by the antics of his detractors but rather, he should be strong and determine in his efforts to attract democracy dividends to Igbo nation.
“We therefore warn that Senator Abaribe should be left alone to do his duty as the minority leader of the Senate. The opposition is the only mirror through which the government can correct itself and we cannot did well as a nation without opposition.
