Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the embattled leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu – has given an update on the health of his client.
This is coming 24hrs after the Department of State Services failed to produce Nnamdi Kanu, at the Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday – for the continuation of his trial.
Nnamdi Kanu who is facing treasonable felony charge was scheduled to appear before Justice Binta Nyako for the continuation of his trial Monday, 26th of July, 2021.
Justifying why the DSS failed to produce Kanu, the prosecuting lawyer, Mohammed Abubakar, told the court that Kanu was not in court due to logistic reasons.
In her response, the judge, Justice Binta Nyako declared that the case could not proceed due to the absence of the IPOB leader and thereby adjourned the case till October 21.
While the case was postponed, Kanu’s lawyer, Barrister Ejiofor has taken to Twitter to give an update on the health status of the IPOB leader following his statement at the court that his client’s health was in danger.
In a twitter post, Ejiofor also revealed that he will be visiting the separatist leader on Thursday, 29th July, 2021.
He tweet; “Given the fact that Our Client- Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was not produced in court yesterday, and serious safety concerns being entertained by all and sundry, and more especially in keeping in line with the subsisting Court Order made yesterday- 26th Day of July, 2021.
“That directed for specific visiting hours and Days for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, may I respectfully put the World and millions of our supporters, on Notice, that I will personally be visiting Our Client- Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on THURSDAY (Next Tomorrow) being 29th Day of July 2021.
“I will keep the World updated on the outcome of the Visit, steps have been taken to notify the DSS of this impending Visit.
“I will advise you all to stay glued to your clock, on the above mentioned Date.
“The information available at our disposal for now, has not suggested any danger to his life, but I SHALL say it to you exactly the way it is, upon the conclusion of the Visit.
