How to apply for UK Study Visa from Nigeria
1. Turbeculosis Test
You have to do Turbeculosis test in either IOM Lagos or IOM Abuja. The fee is N57,800. The result is usually given the same day except there are complications in your result. IOM test can be booked >>here<<
Tips: You may also be allowed in if you go to IOM before the date of your appointment depending on the number of people they have to attend to that day.
2. First Nine MonthsBank Statement
Then make sure you have a bank statement that covers your first nine months living expenses and the remainder of your tuition for the first year. Living expenses is pegged at £1023 per month for students living outside London and £1334 per month if inside London.
So you need to provide £1023×9 or £1334×9 in your bank statement and the remainder of your first tuition depending in the location of your UK school.

The bank statement you use has to be yours or that of your parents. You must provide a birth certificate if you are using your parents bank statement.
If you are using your own bank statement, it has to carry the same name that is on your passport. Your bank statement must not be older than 31 days from its print date.
3. Obtain You Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)
You also need to get CAS, CAS will be issued by the university you are going to in the UK showing that the university is your sponsor in the UK. You use CAS to apply for the visa. Take note of your CAS number and your Sponsor License Number.
CAS is issued when you have met the admission conditions of the university that gave you admission.
4. Apply Visa Application
For your visa application, after filling in your details >>here<< – you will be paying for UK health insurance (IHS) and standard visa fee.
Visa fee is £348 for standard processing. This takes like 15 working days. IHS fee depends on your course length. Generally, one year program is about £705 while a 2 years program is about £1150. You can calculate the fees >>here<<.
If you are going with dependents, you also need to pay visa and IHS fees for them. Note that all payment will be made in Dollars. It’s advisable to use a Dollar to pay. Don’t use Naira card. Open a Dorm account in any Nigerian bank and use the dollar Dorm account.
After paying the visa and IHS fees on the UKVI website, you will be redirected to a TLS website so you can book appointment for submission of your passport to the UK embassy and also pay for priority processing of your visa application if you want.
You pay an extra £220 for priority. You will get your visa within 5 working days if you pay for priority. And you can also pay for super-priority, the fee is £800, you will get your visa decision in 48 hours if you pay for super-priority.
TLS is a UK partner company that handles the collection of your passport and the biometrics you need to do for your UK visa application.
On the same TLS website, you can also pay for courier services if you don’t live in Lagos or Abuja. This attracts an extra fee of N8k. So your passport will be sent back to you anywhere in Nigeria once a decision has been made on your application.
You need to select a suitable TLS centre for submission of your passport. TLS has offices in Victoria Island, Ikeja and Abuja.
If you choose to use TLS Victoria Island, you must pay an extra £55 charge. For any TLS centre you choose, you either come on the appointment day given to you by the website or you can walk in any day you want, coming in any-day you want attracts an extra walk-in fee of N42k.
You go to the TLS centre with your passport, printout of TLS booking confirmation sent to your mail and printout of application checklist (this is generated on the UKVI website). Don’t forget your face mask.
When you are done with biometrics at TLS, you passport will be collected and you will be given a ‘collection slip’ which you will show to the security men at the gates when a decision has been made on your application and you want to collect your passport back.
