The Chairman, Media and Public Affairs Committee (Official Spokesman), Federal House of Representatives Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has revealed that the House has extended an invitation to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over cashless policy on cash deposit.
Hon. Kalu stated this during an interview on Osasu show. On the topic of “Cashless Policy”, Kalu said, although, the policy has been in existence since 2012 and the charges were on withdrawal, but the implementation and timing is what the house is kicking against.
ABACITYBLOG had reported that the CBN had introduced a cashless policy on every cash deposit performed in the country.
But the spokesman said the policy is good and commendable, looking at the enormous gain which has been aimed at bringing transparency in the financial industry.
He advised CBN to channel their focus on the infrastructural deficit that is already existing in handling cash transaction rather than introducing a new policy at the wrong time when the economy is not in a good shape.
