Chijioke Chukwu (Deputy Minority Leader of Abia State House of Assembly) and Hon. Obinna Ichita representing Aba South state constituency (of the APGA political party) to commend them as well as the leadership of the Abia State House on the work they are doing to advance democracy in Abia State.
He encouraged them to keep sustaining the peace that Abians currently enjoy as well as their relationship with the executive stating that though there are 3 arms of government it is one government and the health of one is the health of all.
During his visit, Rep. Kalu praised the Speaker for his cordial relationship with Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu (the Executive Governor of Abia State) and for his reconciliatory visit to Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu. He also acknowledged the efforts of Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, the deputy minority leader of the Abia State House for being very active and knowledgeable in his legislative activities and encouraged him to continue to prioritize the good of Abians over party affiliations.
In his response, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly commended Rep. Kalu (the Spokesperson of the House Representatives) for not only representing the people of Bende very well, but the entire Abia State.
He went on to say that Abians, especially Bende people made a good choice in electing him to represent them because he has shown Nigerians that Abia has quality young men who can competently hold leadership positions at any level.
The Speaker said “I am happy with what you are doing Rep. Kalu. I also admire your relationship with the leadership of the House and the effort you make consistently in defending the integrity and reputation of the legislature of which I am a member.
“What you do for the legislative arm at the federal level, you do for all of us members of the legislative arm in various states.
“You are defending the backbone of democracy in nigeria and we are proud that you are doing a good job.“
When interviewed, Representative Benjamin Kalu said; “What we are preaching is that nation building is a joint task. This is what has helped us at the national level and we are preaching at the state level, that once elections are over, members of legislative houses should be able to work across party lines for the good of the polity.”
It was after this that the legislators went into a closed private session for about an hour.
