As part of measures to embark on official federal projects and inspections in his constituency, the Hon member Representing Bende federal constituency made a familiarization visit to the governor of Abia state, his excellence Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PhD.
Where he had a cordial relationship with the governor and also introduced the acting managing director of Niger Delta development Commission to the governor, who came with him for inspections all the way from Abuja.
Hon Ben Kalu, before embarking on the road and health center inspections across the wards of Bende federal constituency, also paid a visit to Federal Medical Center Umuahia with the acting managing director NDDC, Gbene (Dr) Joi Nuneih and the new Chief of staff to the governor Barr Agbazuere who accompanied him among other dignitaries to the hospital.
ABACITYBLOG reports that the House of Reps spokesman paid for indigent patients to be released from the hospital.
Kalu, during his visit and inspections, vowed to give proper attention and attract more federal presence in the health sector in order to put things in place with the needed necessary equipments that will improve the performances of the health sector in the nation.
Hon. Kalu further stated the need to clean up the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and also get things right. He noted that with the presentation of the list of projects in the State, duplication of projects will be circumvented considering the pausity of funds in the State.
Welcoming the dignitaries, Governor Ikpeazu stressed the need for NDDC to do projects dispationately as well as to ascertain the socio-economic impact of projects.
Dr. Ikpeazu also lauded the member of the House Committee of the NDDC and representative of Bende in the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu for his quality representation.
Earlier, the acting Managing Director of NDDC, Gbene Nuneih who disclosed that there are a total of Six Hundred and Thirty-Three(633) NDDC projects at various stages in the State, saying that their visit to Aba was to see things for themselves as well as to officially handover the list of projects to the Governor.
According to her, the essence was to avoid duplication of projects and to do away with agents. She regretted the disappointing state of the oil communities.
