Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Kalu, and other road users are currently stuck in traffic along Owerri-Umuahia road, Amachara road, Tower, Umuahia due to poor traffic management on the ever-busy route.
Lamenting the hardship motorists and commuters face on the popular road, a motorist, travelling from Owerri to Umuahia, Tony Eke, who had been in traffic for over eight hours, poured out his anger and frustration caused by the ugly incident, blaming Abia state government for providing traffic officials to control traffic across the state.
The passenger said, “I am travelling to Umuahia from Owerri.”
“All the passengers in the bus are frustrated owing to the traffic congestion on this route.”
“We have been in this traffic since 1pm and here we are at 9pm.”
“We don’t deserve this hardship and pain.”
“We are tired of the road and not even a traffic officer is on the road to control traffic.”
“Abia state government should have provided officials to control traffic especially during this festive period, when people travel to visit family, friends and associates.”
“The state government must wake up and put in place the necessary machinery to ensure hitch free and free traffic flow along this axis.”
The former Governor in company of his daughter, Zina and routine of aides, were also helpless, as they were also stuck in traffic for four hours.
