Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has handed over One Hundred (100)Sewing machines, Forty Seven (47) Make-up Kits and Thirty (30)Barbing Kits with Generators to members of the Ngwa Unity Forum (Ngwa Rant) in fulfillment of his promise made two weeks ago.
Performing the ceremony at the Governor’s Lodge Aba, Governor Ikpeazu also gave Education Financial Support to Fifty (50)students as against the Thirty that the Forum requested for and described skill acquisition as the way forward to the country’s youth.
Governor Ikpeazu who said that his administration places great premium on human development through skills and has sponsored many entrepreneurs on overseas trainings to places like Dubai and China for international exposure.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to extend the same gesture to others by training one person each in return as well as build their business on the foundation of Integrity which is a great important human attribute.
The Governor while making case for citizens to patronize home made goods for entrepreneurial growth and support also advised the youths to always channel their problems, challenges and concerns properly as his administration will not relent to give them audience and support that will make them to stand.
Earlier, Mr Chinenye Nwaogu , Senior Aide to the Governor on Social Investments thanked Governor Ikpeazu for keeping to his resolution to approach youth development through skills acquisition, a development which has supported the economic expansion of the state and has helped in reducing poverty in the State.
According to Mr Nwaogu, the efforts of Governor Ikpeazu administration in the SME sector has improved the livelihood of the citizens as reflected in the recent report of National Bureau of Statistics and advised the beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity for their personal growth.
Responding on behalf the members, the Co-ordinator Ngwa Rant, Mr Nkemjika Nnadozie expressed great appreciation to Governor Ikpeazu for providing the youths with empowerment tools earlier before the 3 weeks deadline he promised and assured that proper monitoring of the tools will be done.
It will be recalled that 3 weeks ago, the members of the group visited the Governor and appealed to the Governor to assist their members who had learnt skills but didn’t have money to buy start up tools.
The Commissioner for Youth Development, Barrister Charles Esonu Onyedikachi , his Trade and Investment counterpart – Chief John Okiyi Kalu, DG Abia Mass Mobilization Agency – Chief Paddy Anyatonwu and an entrepreneur, Elder Raymond Aliga, MON witnessed the event.
