The executive governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano who was the Special guest of honour was reportedly absent at the second edition of Anambra State Association (A.S.A) Europe Convention 2019 which took place in Copenhagen, the capital city of Denmark.
Social media commentators has linked the absent of Gov Obiano alongside Senator Ifeanyi Uba, who was also invited to the event as fear of the order given by the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to attack Politicians from the South-East.
However, according to #DiasporaReporters, Anambra Europe Convention is an annual event where all the Anambra indigenes in Europe come together to thank God and to champion a course aimed at alleviating poverty and hardship back home. The maiden edition was in Finland and the host for next year’s convention is between Spain and the UK.
Anambra State Association Europe is the Umbrella Organization that represents the Apex National Anambra State Associations in the various countries of Europe. For now ASA member countries cuts across Turkey, Ireland, UK, France, Spain, Netherlands, Finland, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Sweden. ASA Europe affiliates with the Anambra State Association(ASA) World, being the umbrella organization worldwide.
This year’s event was hosted by Anambra State Association Europe in collaboration with Anambra Brothers Welfare Association Denmark.
The two days event featured business conference, fundraising gala night, cultural carnival and ASA Europe annual meeting was filled with pomp and pageantry as Ndi Anambra in Denmark came out en mass to celebrate their rich and enviable culture with their brothers and sisters from other parts of Europe.
The colourful event was graced by Anambra bigwigs in Europe and other dignitaries amongst whom; Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze, (Onowu Abagana), President ASA Worldwide, Chief Christian Onuorah (Enyi Anam) President Anambra State Association Europe, Vice President ASA Worldwide, Chief Barrister Offordile (Oke Nwa Ichi) CEO Ravelstone Group, Chairman Board of Trustees, ASA Europe, Chief Daniel Anudu (Ugodinaobi) Chairman Anambra Brothers Welfare Association Denmark.
Other dignitaries on the high table are; Chief Anthony Ahiwe, Eze ndigbo na Denmark, Mrs Nneka Nwakwo, Anambra State director of diaspora affairs, Anthony -Claret Onwutalobi ( Ikpemalu Eziokwu) Chairman ASA Finland, Rtn. Ken Nwose Chairman organizing committee, Mr Chigozie Ikejiofor Chairman Anambra State Association, Malmo, Hon. Obiora Wisdom Anusi, President ASA Turkey, Mrs Grace Efobi( Ezi ada ndiora nma ‘ Eze nwani1) Treasurer ASA UK and other notable dignitaries.
The fundraising gala night and cultural carnival was anchored by Mr Kingsley Abisi (Osisioma na Nando), protocol and logistics officer ASA Europe and was supported by Ifeanyi Nwosu and Nkiruka Okonkwo (Ada Engiwe). Ndi Anambra and other guests were thrilled by Solar de Coque, son of the late Nigerian singer, Oliver de Coque.
