Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation has reacted to the report of his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Lagos.
The politician, who was said to be under investigation for alleged forgery and manipulation of documents was earlier today grilled by the agency.
Punch reported that the ex-minister who rejoined the All Progressives Congress in September, was brought to the Lagos Zonal Office of the anti-graft agency on Tuesday.
Although, the details of the allegations against Fani-Kayode were sketchy but the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed his arrest by operatives.
Reacting after he was released, the APC chieftain said he was never arrested, rather, he was invited for questioning and he flew from Abuja to Lagos to honour the invitation.
In a Twitter post, Fani-Kayode tweets;
“Just arrived at the George Hotel for dinner. I was never arrested by the EFCC. I was invited & I flew down to Lagos to see them. I arrived in their office at 2.00pm & left at 8.30pm. I was granted bail on self recognition. They were very polite & professional. Thanks be to God.
Fani-Kayode had been having a running battle with the EFCC for some time and he was once remanded for 67 days in 2016 alongside a former minister of finance, Nenadi Usman.
The duo and two others were facing a 17-count of criminal conspiracy, fraud and money laundering to the tune of N4.9 billion.
