The former deputy director of Radio Biafra London, Barrister Uche Okafor-Mefor has accused the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of hypocrisy.
Mefor, who is now the Director of Biafra Human Right and Freedom Radio (BHRFR), also accused Kanu of replicating the same evil and lies he accused the Nigeria government of, in IPOB.
“Everything Nnamdi Kanu is saying about Nigeria, about evil and lies is what he is doing in IPOB and the wider Biafran public”, says Mefor who has been opposing the establishment of Eastern Security Network (ESN), by the IPOB leader, Kanu.
According to him; “There is no way anybody can claim he is fighting an offensive war, yet make his territory a theatre of war by inviting the same enemies to use that same territory of his as a battle ground”.
Making his position on ESN, Mefor had on February 3rd, 2021 – lambasted the apex diaspora Igbo group, World Igbo Congress, WIC, for endorsing the Nnamdi Kanu’s established ESN.
The group had in a statement published by Abacityblog.com drummed their support to ESN. WIC cited that the inability of the Southeast governors to established a regional security network like other regions in the country gave the option to adopt ESN, hence the one already established.
This is coming even when the Southeast governors publicly distanced themselves from the establishment of Eastern Security Network by Kanu’s IPOB.
Reacting to WIC statement, Mefor said the group has brought themselves to ridicule by supporting what he described as “militia groups in Biafraland”.
He said; “You people are bringing yourselves to ridicule. What you are funding is a militia. WIC will be remembered for openly canvasing support for and initiating the proliferation of militia groups in Biafraland and in Igboland in particular.
“Security of an entire nation/region/people and firearms are not deliberately left unregulated let alone being left in the hands and under the control of unregulated non state actors unless what you want is lawlessness.
Even the United States that tried it by arming such has seen the consequences.
“Unless what you want is lawlessness, anarchy and chaos and not security in the first place, you must consult and work with legitimate stakeholders in the area. Let me tell you that what you are funding is a private army and militia of some sort, yet, you want security of lives and property.
“WIC ,you are going to turn Biafraland into a theatre of war and help to recreate Nnamdi Kanu’s scenario of Syria and Yemen in Biafraland. WIC must be responsible and work with stakeholders in Biafraland to get it right.
“For instance, there are existing security outfits before ESN from the local vigilante to the state governments’ own security outfits. How have you reconciled and harmonised them? What about enabling laws and rules of engagement?
“Biafraland is not an Empire and certainly not going to entertain Emperor (s). Do not turn our land into avoidable humanitarian crisis for every operation is strategically planned and perfected before implementation. This one lacks tact and finesse!
