Genevieve Nnaji, Actress and Film Maker has written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, revealing how her niece was brutalized by the Police for being in possession of a Laptop computer.
The letter comes on the heels of the #EndSARS protest organized by Nigerians calling on President Buhari led Federal Government to disband the activities of men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) over their brutality, harassment and extortion.
According to Ms. Nnaji, her niece, 13, was harassed and slapped in the face for simply asking the Police officers why her laptop was seized.
Genevieve called on President Buhari to wake up as “this is the current state of Nigeria”.
“I’m getting weary and tired of being optimistic about change, but even then I can’t complain. I’m one of the privileged few but that doesn’t mean I get to give up now”, parts of the letter read.

Meanwhile, Nigerians has taken to the street to protest and demanding SARS activities to be terminated. The protesters made up of celebrities and social media influencers blocked major roads in the City of Lagos while registering their dissatisfaction with SARS.
SARS, another unit created by the Nigerian Police Force with the focus on crimes and armed robbery activities has allegedly turn around and become a torn in the flesh of ordinary Nigerian citizens mostly the Youths, harassing, extorting from the youths.
Everyday, stories of how SARS brutalized, harassed and extort monies from the citizens has filled the social media hence the protesters calls for the disbandment instead of reformation.
The hashtag (#ENDSARS) created by the protesters has become trending as No.1 in Nigeria, USA and other regions in the world.
