Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has expressed shock over the passing of Mrs Ifeoma Ada Kalu, the wife of the former Abia State Governor, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu.
In a statement signed by Hon Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, APC Chairman and Special Security Consultant (SSC), Ebonyi State, described late Mrs Kalu as a fearless woman, prayerful and someone who detest injustice.
The Ebonyi State chairman also prayed to God to grant Orji Kalu, Senator representing Abia North Senatorial district, the fortitude to bear the loss.
The statement read:
“I have received with rude shock and deep sadness the news on the demise of Mrs Ifeoma Ada Kalu – the wife of the former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District at the national assembly, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu.
“Mrs Ifeoma Ada Kalu who died in the United States of America at the age of 61 was a very humane, kind and jovial personality. Even as the first lady of the state between 1999 and 2007, late Mrs Kalu treated everyone with high sense of dignity and respect hence the office of her Excellency was greatly revered by all.
“She was fearless, prayerful and uncompromising in championing issues that promote the women and girls as well as other vulnerable groups during the reign of her husband in the state.
“My experience as an appointee of the state government under Senator Dr Orji Uzor Kalu led administration in Abia State revealed more of the refreshing candour of the sexagenarian. She was a humanitarian and detested injustice to the core.
“On behalf of my family and the entire APC members in Ebonyi State, I pray that the good Lord whose decision no man can question grants you – the Chief Whip of the 9th senate, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu and your relatives the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and her gentle soul, eternal rest in his bosom, Amen.
“Please, the distinguished senator kindly accept my heartfelt condolences and assurances of continued support at this moment of grief.
