Nigerian journalist, Ayoola Babalola has been arrested by the men of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) over an article he wrote criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
A twitter user, Towolawi Jamiu, who shared the scope decried what he tagged an attack on freedom of press in the country. He questioned why would the security agencies would be arresting citizens who only aired their views.
“Late Yesterday, the DSS abducted Journalist Ayoola Babalola for writing articles criticizing @MBuhari”, Jamiu posted on twitter.
He further revealed that Babalola has been remanded at the Ibara maximum prison Abeokuta.
“It’s so unfortunate that we will have to create another hashtag #FreeBabalola. For how long will this continue?
“When shall there be press freedom under @MBuhari regime? How many more hashtags shall we create for expressing our views? Does fundamental human right exist under this regime?
