In commemoration of the Democracy Day, a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC. Hon. Mascot Uzor Kalu, has hailed Nigerians for their perseverance and focus despite the challenges.
Hon. Mascot made this known while speaking with IGBERE TV on phone.
He noted that despite the hardship and economic difficulty, many Nigerians have shown that Nigeria as a country belongs to all of us.
He described Nigeria as a blessed land of many good people, while noting that the few bad people in Nigeria are just like the biblical one among the twelve.
“Despite the hardship and economic challenges facing the country, many Nigerians have shown that Nigeria as a country belongs to all of us”.
” As we celebrate the Democracy day, this is the time to make ammendments where necessary because MKO Abiola is a man who stood for justice and equity before he died”.
Hon. Mascot futher pleaded with APC government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari to return the democracy day Celebration to May 29th noting that it was actually the day Nigeria got its freedom from the dictatorial grip of military rulership and experienced actual transition to democracy.
He noted that the current republic which started on the 29th day of may 1999 remains the most successful and has lasted longer than any other since the creation of Nigeria therefore, the significance of 29th May to Nigeria and Nigerians should not be undermined; and urged the federal government to declare June 12 as national holiday as a way of immortalizing MKO Abiola as a hero of democracy, and the day Nigerians stood firm to make an important choice.
