Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Professional Congress (APC) in Lagos State has urged President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government to declare a State of Emergency in the South East region.
Igbokwe was reacting to the brutal killing of Chike Akunyili, husband of late Prof. Dora Akunyili, the former director-general of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.
Igbokwe, who is a Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Drainage and Water Resources, criticised the South-East leaders for turning blind eye to the ugly situation going on in the region.
He wrote on Facebook, “Since governors and our leaders in the South-East are now deaf and dumb; let me say it with all the emphasis in my command that FG should declare a state of emergency in the SE.”
Abacityblog earlier reported that Dr. Chike Akunyili, the widower of the late Prof. Dora Akunyili’s was shot dead by unknown gunmen.
He was returning to Enugu from his wife’s memorial service in Nkpor, Onitsha – Anambra State – when the gunmen opened fire on his vehicle, killing him instantly with his driver and police orderly.
