A Warri Chief and Development expert, Chief Robinson Ariyo Esq has urged the Delta State government under Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to as a matter of urgency establish a Mental Health Care Agency to be saddled with the responsibility of taking care of mentally imbalance people in the state.
Chief Ariyo Esq made the urgent request weekend, while reacting to the suicide committed by one Nwokorie Nnamdi Godson said to be staff of Zenith Bank Sapele branch Delta state whereby the Young man had shown sign of depression through a post he made on his social media handle before he carried out the act of taking his own life.
The Warri based legal icon expressed shock over the action of the young promising man, want Delta State government to take it as top priority to create “Agency for Mental Health Response” to be responding to issues of mental health challenge across the state.
According to Chief Ariyo in his terse made available to newsmen immediately after the incident, it contains thus: “We need an Agency for Mental Health Response to identity, follow up, treat and prevent degenerative mental health of our population. We have an upsurge of mental health issues all around now.
“In less than 24 hours after showing obvious signs of mental health degeneration, the young man Nwokorie Nnamdi Godson took his life,”
He is charging the Delta state government to wakeup to its responsibility and yield to the call for mental health treatment in order to have a saner society, Chief Ariyo looks forward to effective deployment of mental health officers as well as adequate attention to recruitment of such health care personnel at various public health centres across Delta State.
