1. Members of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly are serving in the highly responsive and effective State Inter-Ministerial Committee on COVID-19 that has been receiving commendations from home and abroad for a job well done so far
2. Abia State Lawmakers who are members of the State COVID-19 Committee have also featured in radio programmes to give updates about the works of the committee
3. The Lawmakers have been in the media creating awareness about COVID-19
4. The Lawmakers led by the Speaker, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, have been sensitizing their constituents on the steps to take in our collective fight against the coronavirus pandemic
5. Mr Speaker and his Honourable Colleagues have been distributing substantial palliatives to their respective constituents to help cushion the effects of restrictions necessitated by COVID-19 lockdown in the State
6. These palliative materials by Members of the Abia State House of Assembly included hundreds of bags of rice, bags of beans, bags of garri, tubers of yam, cartons of noodles, hand sanitizers, face masks, cash among others distributed to the needy and vulnerable in their respective constituencies through churches, mosques, charity organizations, communities, women and youth groups etc
7. The Lawmakers under the able and dynamic leadership of the Speaker, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, have been working in close collaboration with the Executive Arm of Government providing the necessary legislative interventions to further boost the State Government’s fight against COVID-19
CONCLUSION
With the continued concerted efforts and close collaboration among all Arms of Government in Abia, the State will certainly come out victorious in her fight against COVID-19. The ever unshakeable assurance is that to achieve this, Members of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly as led by Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, are willing, able and ready to continue to make the necessary humanitarian sacrifices and legislative contributions in our collective war on COVID-19.
