- Commends Akajiaku Age Grade For Constructing A Road With Drainage.
The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, the apex socio-political youth group in the South East geopolitical zone congratulate Mrs Victoria Egwu Ibem and the entire Akajiaku Age grade on their retirement ceremony from Community Service known as “Igba Oto Omu” in Ebem, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.
In a press release signed by Hon. Goodluck Egwu Ibem the President General of the apex Igbo youth group to congratulate his beloved mother said “Igba Oto Omu” age grade ceremony is an aged long traditional practice of the great Ohafia people which is performed to celebrate a particular Age grade from retirement from active Community Service.
“Ebem Ohafia people are industrious and progressive people who develop their community through the Age grade system and personal sacrifices from indigenes of the community”.
Speaking further, the group said, the Ebem Ohafia Age grade built schools like Ohafia High School and handed it over to the government which is now a Federal Government College, Ujurueze primary school, Kpoke Primary school and others, roads, hospitals, health centers, motor parks, bus stops, scholarship to indigent students, boreholes and other social amenities too numerous to mention. It is a good arrangement by Ohafia people to compliment the effort of the government.
“The intervention of the Age grade in provision of social amenities for the community is the reason why we celebrate our fathers and mothers who are alive to witness such a great day he or she is retiring from active Community Service ( Igba Oto Omu). It is really a practice worthy of emulation”.
“I will not forget in a hurry the positive contributions of Engr. Victor Anya Udo who if alive would joined his fellow Akajiaku Age Grade to make the ceremony more colourful. His selfless contributions towards the infrastructural development of Ebem and Ohafia in general was great. History will be very kind to him.
“I commend the generational impacts of Professor Eni Njoku a man of many first, Chief Okwara Osonwa, Chief Mba Iroha, Col. Ogbugo Kalu (rtd) and other great legends of Ebem Ohafia who are part of the history we are celebrating”.
“I also congratulate Barr Emeka Ibem Kalu former Chairman Ohafia LGA, Mrs Omy Mba Kalu Ibem and the entire “Akajiaku” Age grade as the retire from active Community Service on 31 December, 2022″.
“I therefore which all members of Akajiaku Age grade a great and colourful retirement ceremony” the group said.
