The Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria Corpus Christi Parish Bende, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State today Sunday 11th September 2022, presented an award of recognition to the Deputy Chairman of Bende Local Government Area Hon Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro.
Presenting the award during the just concluded Youth day celebration of the Church held today, the Parish Priest Very Rev Father Francis Okpara said the youths of the church had watched the Deputy Chairman’s political trajectory and found him worthy to be presented with an award.
“I was glad when they told me that you are the Deputy Chairman of Bende, before now, the people who normally assume that office are some red cap people, but it is a welcome development that young people are now given opportunities to serve”
Speaking further, the Youth President of the Church Bro Okorie Chukwu Emmanuel said the title of the award followed the fact that Hon Promise Uzoma Okoro is the youngest Deputy Chairman in the history of Bende Local Government Area.
“Our choice of the award is because it is on record that you are the youngest Deputy Chairman in the history of Bende, that is a jinx that you have broken” he said.
In his speech, the Deputy Chairman of Bende Local Government Area Hon Promise Uzoma Okoro advised Catholic Church Youths and Nigerian youths to prepare to take up leadership positions as according to him “the age of the youths has arrived”
The Deputy Chairman recalled that as a youth who was elected into office as Deputy Chairman, he comported himself because his success or failure determines more opportunities for other youths in Bende Local Government Area.
“When I was elected as Deputy Chairman, I told myself that if I fail, I would block further opportunities for other youths, but my success will pave way for my fellow youths, and to God be the glory that I didn’t fail” he said.
He appreciated the youths for the award recognition while congratulating them on the occasion of their youth day.
