President Muhammadu Buhari, this afternoon, 22nd December, 2020, virtually commissioned the Integrated Gas Handling Facility (IGHF) located in Edo State.
The newly commissioned Gas Handling Facility was built and will be operated by Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, in Oredo, Edo State.
“It is the largest onshore LPG plant in Nigeria, with the potential of supplying about 20% of Nigeria’s LPG demand,” says President Buhari, during the virtual commissioning of IGHF in Aso Villa, Abuja.
Appraising his administration for the efforts made so far in the nations economy, Buhari said;
“We are making tremendous progress. We wrapped up 2019 with the Final Investment Decision (FID) for NLNG Train 7, and are now exiting 2020 with this milestone commissioning of the Oredo Integrated Gas Handling Facility, which will support our National Gas Expansion Program.”
Also speaking on the newly commissioned Gas Handling Facility, Mele Kyari, the GMD of NNPC said; “The facility was designed, constructed and delivered with the highest application of Nigerian content.”
According to him, “the contractor who handled the facility is a wholly Nigerian company, which demonstrates the capacity of Nigerian companies to handle ‘complex’ projects.”
