Two prominent sons of Ukwa West local government area in Abia State have taken to the social media to rain curses and insults on each other over the just concluded National Assembly elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had announced the third term member of the House of Representatives, Barr. Uzoma Abonta, who is from Ukwa East, as the winner of the House of Representatives elections for Ukwa Federal Constituency. It is understood that the people of Ukwa East and Ukwa West, who form one federal constituency, have an understanding of sharing power between the two local government areas after two terms of 8 years.
It was the Secretary General of Asa Development Union, ADU, a socio-cultural organisation of Ukwa West people, Dr. Ikechi Ajuzieogu that fired the first salvo. He wrote “Those that sacrificed Equity, Fairness & Justice and denied Asa people representation in the House of Representatives have willfully brought irredeemable curse upon themselves and their generations.
“For working against the good of Asa Land and her people, their political & sundry aspirations shall perpetually remain in oblivion. Their wickedness against Asa Land shall continually hunt them till their last breath on earth”
In a swift reaction, one time Chairman of Ukwa West local government area and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Sylvanus Nwaji, alleged through same whatsapp platform used by Dr. Ajuzieogu that the Secretary General of ADU and his cohorts collected millions of naira from the current Chairman of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC, Sam Nwogu to do his bidding and turned around later to make the overall interest of Ukwa West people their objective, when they discovered that working for Nwogu was becoming counterproductive.
“These are his exact words, “Unfortunately the above writer and cohorts collected millions from Sam Nwogu full of deceit for their personal gain only turned at the last minute to preach Asa. Is he more Catholic than the pope? What is his inheritance in ASA when he has no wife and children. Above all, he is a settler from Arochukwu.”
The questions that beg for answers, according to some Ukwa West people interviewed are: Did money really exchange hands as alleged? And for Hon Sylvanus Nwaji, is he the only Ukwa West man that worked for Hon Uzoma Abonta? Why did he take Dr Ajuzieogu’s cry against the desecration of Asa land by the so called politicians personal?
