The election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Abia State capital, on Monday struck out the petition filed by John Azubuike and his party, Action Alliance, AA, challenging the re-election victory of the APC’s Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
Mr. Azubuike was challenging the victory of Abia North Senator, Orji Uzor Kalu in the just concluded February 25 election.
The petition No. EPT/AB/SEN/1/2023: JOHN AZUBUIKE & ANOR v INEC & 2 ORS filed against the election and return of Senator Kalu was struck out by the court after hearing from legal representatives of the petitioners, Kalu Kalu Agu Esq and counsel for the 2nd and 3rd Respondents, Udo Uduma Esq and Victor Etie Esq respectively.
In response, Udo Uduma Esq commended the petitioners for their nobility in conceding defeat and congratulating the legitimate winner of the election, and called upon Sen Mao Ohuabunwa of PDP and Mr Nnamdi Orji of LP to toe the path of honour, concede defeat ,and congratulate Senator Orji Uzor Kalu who was duly elected and returned.
