The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Bola Tinubu, has settled for a Muslim running mate in the person of Senator Kashim Shettima.
Tinubu’s choice of running mate goes contrary to warning by some relevant stakeholders in the country against picking a Muslim running mate, as Muslim-Muslim ticket would sideline the Christians.
Meanwhile, addressing journalists in Katsina on Sunday, according to a presidential aide, Buhari Sallau, Tinubu announced Kashim Shettima as running mate.
Shettima, the representative of Borno Central Senatorial District in the Red Chamber, was a two-term Governor of Borno State.
Tinubu is expected to inform President Muhammadu Buhari about his choice of running mate within the week.
