Chief Whip of the Senate and Caucus Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on Wednesday, received the former Executive Chairman of Ukwa West Local Government Area, Chief Sylvanus Nwaji of the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC.
Presenting the broom to Nwaji on behalf the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the APC , Governor Mai Buni, Kalu commended the former LG Boss for his decision to join the APC, and asked him to register in his ward immediately.
Kalu who noted that he is glad Nwaji is back to the APC after rendering service to his community through the PDP also urged him to sweep out all evils around him with the broom.
Handing him the broom , the former Governor said: “On behalf of the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of our great party and the Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency, Governor Mai Buni, who have asked me to continue to give the broom to new members, I want to welcome you back to your family where you belong to and I will give you back the broom from today to sweep out every evil you see around you” Kalu stated.
In his response, Nwaji thanked those present including Senator Kalu and his brother, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu.
He noted that he took permission from the Chief Whip to serve his people and he has finished his service and back to where he should serve more.
His words: “The Chief Whip of the Senate of Nigeria; Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, The former Chief of staff; Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, my brother here who stands as my witness, Signor Kalu. I accept the broom as a symbol of my family where I belonged before.
“I was called to serve, service is for all of us and have served my people in the capacity of transition Chairman and today I am back to my family.
“I took permission from the Chief whip of the Senate of Nigeria to go and serve and I am back again to tell him that I have finished my service and back, and I thank him for his warmth acceptance and I say with the large heart, I will not disappoint him and if given any other capacity to serve in our party, I will not hesitate to be loyal.”
Concluding with prayers , he said , “I thank God almighty for helping me today and may He help APC to govern the state come 2023, may God help us all in Jesus name” He said
