There is an ongoing riot at the Kaduna Correctional Prison over suspected cases of Coronavirus, Amnesty International reports.
According to the Human Rights agency, one prisoner has been shot dead following the riot.
“Unrest is ongoing now in Nigera Correctional institution Kaduna over suspected cases of #COVID19”, Amnesty wrote on their verified twitter handle.
“We were informed that armed security men are currently inside the prison in a bid to quell the unrest. At least one prisoner was shot. #Nigeria”, the post also read.

A.I however, urge the authorities to ensure that the national response to #COVID19 is as inclusive as possible.
It should be recall that Kaduna Prison is where the Federal Government is currently detaining Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife.
He is the leader of Nigeria’s Islamic Movement, a movement that he founded in the late 1970s.
