The Court of Appeal on Friday upheld the Federal Government’s application for stay of execution of the October 13 judgment which set Nnamdi Kanu free.
Justice Haruna Tsanammi also ordered that the result of the ruling be forwarded to the Supreme Court within seven day for expeditious hearing.
This means Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, is expected to remain in the custody of the Department of State Services pending when the Supreme Court hears the case.
AbaCityBlog reports that earlier, the IPOB lead counsel, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor in a tweet said the legal team representing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu were notified by the Appeal Court that the Ruling on the Federal Government’s application for stay of execution on Kanu’s Court of Appeal Judgement has been fixed to be delivered at 3pm today.
“We were just served with Hearing Notice from Court of Appeal,Abuja Judicial Division to the effect that Ruling on the Federal Government’s application for stay of execution on Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Court of Appeal Judgement has been fixed to be delivered at 3pm today, being the 28th Day of October 2022.
