Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been declared the winner of the 2019 gubernatorial election in Abia State.
Ikpeazu who polled the total number of 261,127 to defeat his rivals of the APC and APGA, was declared winner by the INEC Returning Officer, Professor Benjamin Ozumba.
Professor Ozumba said Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, having satisfied all electoral requirements and scored the highest number of votes, is declared the winner and returned elected.
Below is the total number of votes;
APC – 99574
APGA – 64366
PDP – 261127
Meanwhile, the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC, has kicked against the outcome of the election.
To register their grievances, the APC loyalist barricaded the INEC headquarters in Umuahia in protest. They called for the cancellation of the results, citing irregularities in some polling units across the state.
