The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Saturday rescheduled Local Government election in Ummuneochi LGA of Abia state, Dr. Frank Osita-Chuks has emerged winner at the just concluded polls.
The APC candidate polled 11,096 votes based on the collated ward by ward results to beat his closest rival, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mr Ifeanyi Madu who polled 4, 444 votes.
The election which could not hold on Friday following the attempted ploy of the PDP to use their LGA and ward Executives as adhoc staff for the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSEIC) and the absence of Chairmanship summary results sheet, was later rescheduled for Saturday 19th December 2020.
The APC candidates for the councillorship positions across the local government also came out victorious in the poll, winning in all their various wards.
Commending the electorate for their support, maturity and patriotism despite provocations from the PDP, elated Osita-Chuks dedicated his victory to the people of Ummuneochi LGA, adding that the will of the people can never be undermined. ”
“The people of umunneochi have spoken through their votes.”
“Their will can never be suppressed again by the selfish interest of a few who think the status quo will remain forever. When we told them that Umunneochi and in fact Abia North is APC they refused to heed to it. Today the good people of Umunneochi have proved it to the PDP.”
“This victory is for the people of Umunneochi. They will soon start to see a new wave of progress. Give us a few months and you will see how we will transform our place” Osita-Chuks, added.
