The Accord party Governorship Candidate in Abia state, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, PhD has expressed his heartfelt sympathy to Ariaria International market traders over the flooding in the market that destroyed goods worth several billions of naira and displaced traders from their place of businesses.
Reacting to questions by journalists in Umuahia, Bishop Nwankpa insist that, while flood is a natural disaster that can occur anywhere in the world but that of Ariaria International market, Aba is purely man made.
He insist that the government in power has not taken proactive measures to deal with the problems of Ifeobara water basin, in one hand and has not made any good effort to connect drainages to water side to allow gradient water flow unstoppably from Ariaria area, without affecting the market and it’s environs
“How can a government that pay lip service to the problems affecting her citizenry, a government that thrives on promises fulfilled in breach be trusted by Abians”, he added.
Bishop Nwankpa lamented on the failed promises of Abia state Government as it concerns the remodeling of Ariaria International market, chiding the Ikpeazu led administrations for his failed promises to deliver three lines of buildings to the traders as at December, 2021 and still telling stories one year after.

“My government will revisit the Aba drainages designed by Late Dr. Sam Mbakwe with the aim of opening the channels and evacuating storm water through the right channels to Aba river”
“Abians can only feel the dividends of democracy through the leadership they can trust, leaders with the fear of God and as a servant of God, it is not our of place that my government will return Abia on the part of glory if you join hands to elect me as your Governor in 2023, he concluded”.
